The nursery play area needed expansion into the adjacent rose garden, which had been laid over a disused swimming pool. The area was heavily trafficked by parents picking up their children from the upper playground and since they often had pushchairs wheeled access was desirable.
The existing steps were replaced with a curved ramp and running track, which provided a distinct space for the children to play in. As part of the Kent County Council Landscape Architecture team Anna Tennent worked with the School Head and staff to develop the proposals before letting and administering the contract.
The nursery staff and the children were delighted with their new play space and the ramp enabled easy access for parents to pick up their children.
